Delete Photo

Permanent Deletion

Deleted photos are permanently removed from storage and cannot be recovered.

When you delete a photo:

  1. File deletion: The photo file is immediately and permanently deleted from storage
  2. Metadata retained: Basic record kept for audit purposes (who deleted, when)
  3. Storage freed: Your storage quota is updated immediately
  4. No recovery: There is no trash or recycle bin — deletion is final

How It Works

StepAction
1Photo file deleted from storage (local, admin S3, or tenant S3)
2Thumbnail removed
3Storage usage decremented
4Record marked with deleted_at timestamp
5Record marked with deleted_by user

Storage Compatibility

Photo deletion works correctly regardless of your storage configuration:

  • Local storage: File deleted from server
  • Admin S3: File deleted from platform S3 bucket
  • Tenant S3: File deleted from your own S3 bucket (Professional+)

Best Practices

Organize with Tags

Use tags to categorize photos:

  • By issue type (damage, clean, etc.)
  • By location (front, rear, interior)
  • By status (reviewed, pending)

Review Location Data

For location-critical submissions:

  • Verify GPS coordinates make sense
  • Check the map preview
  • Open in Google Maps for detailed view

Check Timestamps

For time-sensitive documentation:

  • Verify capture time matches expectations
  • Consider timezone differences
  • Compare with submission time
